HALLOWEEN TOWN
TALKING DERRY GIRLS
I had such a lovely time on the Talking Derry Girls podcast chatting all things Halloween history for their Derry Halloween episode.
Derry Girls does get a mention in the Welcome to Halloween Town book. The final episode of the series revolved around the biggest and best night of the year for the city, October 31st.
You can still buy a copy online, or in person from Little Acorns Bookstore on Great James Street, Visit Derry on Waterloo Square, or The Museum of Free Derry in Glenfada Park.

WELCOME TO HALLOWEEN TOWN
Every October 31st Derry/Londonderry boasts the biggest party in the world for a night of fancy dress and fireworks, but why does the city take Halloween so serious? Is it social? Cultural? Political? Or just great craic?
From costume parties in pubs, to the biggest street celebration in Europe, Halloween Town goes into the haunting days of the Troubles and learns how the biggest night of light and laughter grew from the darkest decades in the city’s history.
The film has been many years in the making and will be our first mid-length documentary. It is the biggest project to date, made possible by the support of Guildhall Press / Hive Digital Studio.
